"In the cage, in the cage you stay, they'll trap you for life" While the pandemic crippled the whole world and made it impossible for bands to perform, the biggest Latin American metal export SEPULTURA refused to sit with folded arms and stay like a caged animal. Like the flowers growing out of the body of a dead bird depicted on Eduardo Recife's stunningly colourful cover, the thrash metal pioneers from Belo Horizonte took advantage of the unexpectedly free time to launch a project that kept them busy throughout 2020: "'Sepulquarta' was born at the very beginning of the pandemic, when everything came to a standstill," recalls guitarist Andreas Kisser. "We released a new album, but we couldn't tour for it. So we created this recurring event where we could talk to our fans all over the world, play our music and share it, it was a blast! "Sepulquarta" kept us alive and strong during one of the most difficult times in human history." "Creating Sepulquarta allowed me to stay in touch with the music during that time. Playing an instrument was the only thing I could still do during this pandemic," adds drummer Eloy Casagrande, "and music really seemed like a good way to cope with the endless isolation and fear of loss and isolation that haunted people around the world. Apparently the Brazilian pioneers weren't the only ones who felt this way, and so they began reaching out to friends and colleagues around the world, asking them not only to participate in their weekly podcast, but also to join them in playing one of SEPULTURA's classic tracks. From the safety of home, international stars such as David Ellefson, Scott Ian, Danko Jones, Devin Townsend, Matt Heafy and many more joined the band to record the SEPULTURA track, which has now been mixed and mastered by Conrad Ruther and will be released on CD, 2LP and all streaming platforms. "We invited our incredibly talented friends to participate in our project, whether they were jamming with us or were guests in the many Q&A sessions we hosted," Andreas explains. "We talked about our history, music, politics, sports, philosophy, depression and the environment, among other things. With knowledgeable guests and many of the great minds of today, we learned a lot. You'll find unique performances of SEPULTURA music from many stages of our career with amazing guest musicians who lent their talent and energy to record these historic versions!"

"V kleci, v kleci zůstaneš, zavřou tě na celý život"

Zatímco pandemie ochromila celý svět a znemožnila kapelám koncertovat, největší latinskoamerický metalový export SEPULTURA odmítl sedět se založenýma rukama a zůstat jako zvíře v kleci.

Stejně jako květiny vyrůstající z těla mrtvého ptáka vyobrazeného na ohromujícím barevném obalu od Eduarda Recifeho využili thrashmetaloví průkopníci z Belo Horizonte nečekaně volného času a spustili projekt, který je zaměstnával po celý rok 2020: "'Sepulquarta' se zrodila hned na začátku pandemie, kdy se všechno zastavilo," vzpomíná kytarista Andreas Kisser. "Měli jsme venku nové album, ale nemohli jsme k němu jet na turné. Proto jsme vytvořili tuhle opakující se akci, kde jsme mohli mluvit s našimi fanoušky po celém světě, hrát naši hudbu a vyměňovat si názory, což byl nářez! 'Sepulquarta' nás udržela při životě a silná v jednom z nejtěžších období v historii lidstva."

"Vytváření Sepulquarty mi v té době umožnilo zůstat v kontaktu s hudbou. Hraní na můj nástroj bylo to jediné, co jsem během této pandemie mohl dělat," dodává bubeník Eloy Casagrande, a skutečně, hudba se zdála být dobrým způsobem, jak se vyrovnat s nekonečnou výlukou a strachem ze ztráty a izolace, které pronásledovaly lidi po celém světě. Brazilští průkopníci zřejmě nebyli jediní hudebníci, kteří to tak cítili, a tak se začali spojovat s přáteli a kolegy po celém světě a žádali je nejen o účast v týdenním podcastu, ale také o to, aby si společně s nimi zahráli některou z klasických skladeb SEPULTURY.

Z bezpečí svého domova se k nim připojily mezinárodní hvězdy jako David Ellefson, Scott Ian, Danko Jones, Devin Townsend, Matt Heafy a mnoho dalších, aby nahráli skladbu SEPULTURY, která byla nyní smíchána a zmasterována Conradem Rutherem a vyjde na CD, 2LP a všech streamovacích platformách. "Pozvali jsme naše neuvěřitelně talentované přátele, aby se stali součástí našeho projektu, ať už jamovali s námi, nebo byli hosty v mnoha otázkách a odpovědích, které jsme pořádali," vysvětluje Andreas.

"Mluvili jsme mimo jiné o naší historii, hudbě, politice, sportu, filozofii, depresi a životním prostředí. S odbornými hosty a mnoha velkými mozky dneška jsme se toho hodně naučili.
